Well located in the centre of Playa del Carmen, Hostel MXV Quinta Avenida provides air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. If you want to party or don’t mind loud music and bass from the Main Street then the location is for you, it is right in the heart of the Main Street full of bars and restaurants. Sheets were cotton (not crappy polyester). Lockers were spacious, room was spacious. Staff very helpful and attentive and kind. Graciously offered free filtered water which is lovely. The place is super basic and the outside feels a bit dirty but for the lowest hostel in the most central location it’s okay.

The bathroom in the women’s dorm had no toilet seat. The aircon worked which is great but it was dripping all over the bathroom sink. Both things I can handle at a cheaper hostel though. For anyone who does get a bit nervous travelling the hostel is locked securely at night but the room to the female dorm is not locked, no sliding door or personal keys, it felt safe but for someone who is nervous about that just passing on info. Overall good price for the location, just a bit run down and needing maintenance and a bit of a makeover would not hurt but for people who do not mind bare bones you,ll be happy enough.

Better than expected

Not as bad as described by others, place is comfortable and due to its location, most of the places won't be so quiet at night, share rooms are comfortable, just odd that half has ac nd half has a fan.

Hostel located in the heart of 5th Ave, close to the beach & Walmart..rooms are nice & comfy bathroom with shower in each rooms, A/C for evening, kitchen for everyone to prepare food..

Place is not very clean, nobody's in charge, keep the hostel under supervision, planning isn't done properly, wi-fi not reliable & very weak & missing tables & chairs in the garden..just old broken one left to use..

Not coming back, didn’t get anything for what i paid. i had to ask for everything from clean bedsheets to toilet paper i

The location is really good, staff actually tried to help when needed.

not neat, even the towels they gave me are dirty, showers don’t work properly, toilets always clogged and your bedroom smells like that, wi-fi doesn’t work and i really am paying for something i as not getting.

sucio pero con buenas intenciones, estilo mochilero

La atención de los trabajadores y los voluntarios excelente! Súper atentos y amables, disponibilidad para ayudarte. El lugar es muy céntrico a cuadras de la playa, es económico y pasable si no te hagas grandes expectativas.

Muy sucio y descuidado, mi cama tenía Chinches (bedbugs), el aire acondicionado de la habitación compartida nunca funcionó y la heladera de la cocina tampoco. No había productos de limpieza para que el personal pudiera hacerse cargo. Los voluntarios tratan de mantenerlo digno pero sin ayuda de gerencia es bien difícil. Mi reserva incluía desayuno y al tercer día recién se dieron cuenta y me dieron mi pase. Si buscas algo tranquilo esta no es tu opción, la música de los bares suena como que estuvieras en la fiesta hasta altas horas. Pero, es económico y aceptable si viajas con presupuesto limitado, tienes una cama cómoda (limpia se supone) y un baño aceptable.

La ubicación que te ofrece es buena ya que se encuentra sobre la 5ta avenida, muy cerca de la playa y de la terminal de autobuses.

La limpieza de la habitación no era del todo buena, pero se entiende que es una habitación compartida y que muy posiblemente los demás huéspedes ya la habían ensuciado.

Pasar la noche

Es relativamente cerca a la estación ADO turística, las camas son cómodas ( cama matrimonial/ doble). Es un buen lugar para pasar la noche y descansar. Los baños cuentan con agua caliente y fría.

Deberían mejorar la limpieza de las instalaciones, sobre todo de la cocina, cabe resaltar que es un área común pero estaba muy sucio, la nevera no funciona del todo bien; por otra parte, todos los cuartos de deberían contar con locker, el de nosotros no tenía. El aire acondicionado de la habitación era muy frío, no pudimos regular la temperatura porque no habia control remoto.

La ubicación.

Que llegamos y nadie nos atendió, regresamos 4 veces hasta que como a las 6 de la tarde encontramos al recepcionista, la habitación no tenía clima ni llave, nos cobraron $150.00 por la toallas y lo bueno es que nos pudieron cambiar de habitación, pero cuando llegamos en la noche estaba ocupada por una pareja que salió rápidamente.
